My good friends at Hybrid:Arts are doing it again – organising amazing events for everyone in Leamington Spa. Here’s the publicity blurb:

Hybrid Arts are closing Leamington’s Parade for the launch of Extraordinary Cycles on Sunday 26th July from 12-3pm. The day will be a celebration of cycling and cyclists, as part of the London 2012 Open Up Weekend celebrations. The event will include a flatland jam, cycle races for all ages, an interactive screen with film and a leisure ride
from Coventry-Leamington-Coventry organised by cycling legend, Mick Ives.

Extraordinary Cycles is a ground-breaking partnership project between Hybrid Arts and Coventry Transport Museum which celebrates the marriage of sport and art through exploring and developing the art form of dancing on bikes.

Join us in this event. Everyone is welcome.

If you plan to attend, please register for Extraordinary Cycles – either as a cyclist or volunteer – check out the Hybrid:Arts website. Those who register will be eligible for a free limited edition t shirt, which can be collected on your arrival. The deadline for pre-registrations is Monday 13th July.

After their success at Coventry Conversations,  Mez Packer and Amanda Smyth are planning another joint gig for July 2009. Amanda Smyth has not confirmed yet, but an evening with both authors looks set to go ahead on Monday 6th July.
The event is part of the Talking Books Oxfam Bookfest fortnight, which aims to showcase the work of local authors across the country. Mez and Amanda will read from their novels (Among Thieves, Black Rock) and answer questions from the audience about their work.

Venue: Oxfam Bookshop, 51 Regent Street, Leamington Spa, Warwickshire CV32 5EE
This is a free event with refreshments – although audience donations (for Oxfam) will be gratefully received.
